Automobiles in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were notified by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior representative stated the vandalism left him without words and had to be solved promptly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
